Katie Brown is an intern at Able SC, located in Columbia. Katie is pursuing her Matster's Degree in Social Work from USC. She moved to Columbia this fall after working with Mill Village Farms, a nonprofit employment readiness and produce distribution program in Greenville. She loved working with teenagers at Mill Village, so she is especially excited to collaborate with the youth team here at Able SC. Her favorite subjects to teach are health, wellness, and mindfulness. Katie says the Able team has already welcomed her warmly and showed her what advocacy looks like in action. She is thrilled to work in a space that practices openness and promotes learning.

Katie graduated from Furman University with a degree in English. Her love of stories led her to social work and is what excites her most about working with consumers at Able. When Katie isn't at school or Able, you can find her coaching gymnastics, cooking a vegetarian meal, or curling up with a good book.
