Accounting Specialist Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Accounting Specialist (part-time) is responsible for performing a wide array of accounting functions including: accounts payables/receivables, bank reconciliations, general ledger support and reimbursement processing. This position is under the direct delegation of the Director of Administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare monthly grant reimbursement requests and invoices
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review aging report monthly and follow up on past due accounts
  • Prepare financial statements for daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Verify and enter vendor invoices and employee reimbursement requests into accounting system weekly
  • Routinely adjust program budgets as directed
  • Post bi-weekly payroll general journal entry
  • Serve as backup support for payroll processing
  • Comply with established internal controls
  • Carry out additional assignments as delegated by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of accounting systems and functions. Preferably knowledge in Financial Edge NXT.
  • Familiarity with financial management principles and practices
  • Computer literacy
  • Advanved Excel Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Customer Service skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree preferred. Three to five years experience in a financial capacity. Personal maturity, motivation, attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of work and time spent on behalf of the organization.

LOCATION: Columbia

HOURLY RATE: $15 to $17/HR. Commensurate based on experience with appropriate merit and annual bonus included.

HOURS: 24-32 hours per week
