PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The position is responsible for coordinating, developing, and managing an AmeriCorps program for Able SC that builds on our current volunteer programming. This position is in direct delegation of the Director of Quality Assurance.

Location: Columbia, SC Status: Non-Exempt, Temporary grant-funded position
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Salary Range: Based on experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Participate in meetings, trainings, and phone calls with the SC Commission development coach.
• Submit applicable reports to the SC Commission.
• Attend applicable national trainings and conferences.
• Compose and submit AmeriCorps operational grant application
• Educate and train Able SC Staff on the needs of the community to support the development of the AmeriCorps programs
• Strengthen existing Able SC networks by identifying key partners and volunteers.
AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator (FT) – Job Description
• Support Able SC in research for resources to support AmeriCorps implementation in 2022
• Secure sources of financial program match.
• Lead the efforts with sustaining the program.
• Identify potential community partners and service sites in our counties that would benefit from AmeriCorps members implementing the Able SC AmeriCorps program.
• Manage presence at public events in counties to educate about the AmeriCorps program.
• Develop AmeriCorps member training curriculum and calendar for 2022-2025.
• Assist staff in developing a Marketing Plan for educating communities about the Able SC AmeriCorps program and the organization.
• Provide outreach and educational materials for distribution to the disability community
• Design a recruitment strategy that aligns with the desired and required characteristics/skills for AmeriCorps members.
• Create programmatic policies, procedures, and forms to be used in anticipation of hosting an AmeriCorps program.
• Create an effective orientation, training, and monitoring plan that includes applicable technical assistance, which will potentially include providing remote member orientation.
• Implement procedures for distributing the AmeriCorps member living allowance to potential members.
• Participate in management and staff meetings
General Grant Management
• Manage and research grant awards related to volunteering and AmeriCorps
• Develop grant reporting timeline metrics for progress reports and application deadlines
• Submit progress reports in accordance to grant requirements
• Maintain paper and digital documents
• Create and monitor evaluation surveys as required
• Develop grant tool for easy access, entry, and summarization of activities
• Help develop timeline and calendar of events
• General administrative duties as required
• Other duties as delegated.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

● Experience managing volunteer programs, AmeriCorps experience is a plus
● Experience managing grants and program implementation.
● Knowledge of independent living philosophy, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), accessibility standards, and program accommodation.
● Literacy concerning the use of all organizational equipment, including computers, photocopiers, and telephones
● Knowledge of customer service principles & practices
● Experience in the delivery of presentations and training to groups required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. May supervise AmeriCorps staff and Able SC volunteers as the program develops.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Personal maturity, motivation, attention to detail, strong relationship skills, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of work and time spent on behalf of the organization. Must be able to pass a national criminal background check.
