As the Grants Coordinator for Able South Carolina, Alexis manages the different aspects of the grant application, and reporting process to ensure that Able SC’s many programs and initiatives remain successful and to deepen the mission and work of Able SC with the disability community.

A native to New Orleans, Alexis moved with her family to South Carolina when she was a junior in high school.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & TV Production from Savannah College of Art & Design and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California in Screenwriting.  Initially, she worked in Hollywood in the film and television industry, but later transitioned into the non-profit world due to her interest in advocating and supporting children and adults with disabilities.

Alexis was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1994 and in subsequent years, other autoimmune conditions and complications followed.  A forever student, she enjoys reading scientific research on chronic illness management, mental health, epigenetics, autoimmune pathogenesis, and public health.  Alexis also has a silly side that enjoys making music mixes and t-shirts, dancing and drawing, as well as hosting dinner parties and movie nights with friends and family.
