Ella’s journey with Able SC began in 2011 when she acquired her disability and sought peer support. She learned to use assistive technology and embraced disability pride and independence. In 2015, Ella was a youth speaker at Able SC’s Advocacy Day for Access and Independence. She participated in South Carolina’s Youth Leadership Forum in 2020. In 2022, Ella started work at Able SC through the AmeriCorps Program. Her dedication to independent living and disability pride led to her current role as an Independent Living Specialist. Ella is passionate about teaching the independent living philosophy and equipping people with disabilities with the skills they need to live independently and thrive.
